Daniel Merlot is a songwriter, producer,live performance director,DJ and multi-instrumentalist who currently resides in Los Angeles where he splits his time between there and Asia. He produces music artists in Japan,Korea,China and the States . 

 

Daniel started in San Francisco by organizing an ongoing series of successful trip hop and house dance events in the late 90's that included top deejays,performance artists and live music projects he was involved in.

 

He moved to Los Angeles and started  releasing dance record under the name Crash Berlin with collaborations with famed DJ Bassnectar,drum & bass legends Aquasky,hip hop legend Kool Keith .He also had releases on Virgin Records with Perry Farrell from the rock band Janes Addiction/Lollapalooza and reggae dub legend Mad Professor 

 

Daniel was consistently playing live band shows and deejaying thru out the United States on tours with music festivals Lollapalooza,Burning Man,Coachella and Ultra music festival Miami.He also produced and curated stages at those events.

 

Daniel worked for Lady Gagas producer Red One for his Universal music record label as a live music director . He has toured the states playing huge arenas opening for Lil Wayne ,Niki Minaj,Rick Ross,Drake etc .Playing live on the David Letterman show,events for Apple Music and many numerous shows in the states. 

 

Daniel has also produced music for many hollywood film and TV shows such as MTV,Volkswagon,AnthonyBourdain,ABC TV Networks,Modern Family etc Most notable he scored music for the worldwide hit film Marvel Comics BLADE TRINITY starring Wesley Snipes and Jessica Biel.He collaborated with rap legend Kool Keith for this and also was released on the official soundtrack curated by  RZA and members of the Wutang Clan for NEW LINE CINEMA.  

 

Daniel scored & co-produced the of launch Vogue Magazine/Conde Naste fashion video series.

 

In Asia Daniel produced top hits for China's #1 top pop singer Shang Wenjie 尚雯婕 for the last 5 years and produced famed Korean girl group SPICA .He released an english version of their single in the States on his label and gained major press,tv appearances and a major live concert shows with G Dragon,Girls Generation He also produced major Japanese pop acts that have gained him 3 #1 hit songs on the Oricon charts in the last 3 years.As well as directing sold out tours in Japan and major concerts in Taiwan.

 

He was the music director for the Tokyo Girls Collection fashion festival into China for 2 years in Beijing (Cadillac Center)& Shanghai(Mercedes Benz Arena).He also is launching dance festivals in China and brought in partnerships for Ultra music China.

 

Daniel continues to produce music at his studio in Hollywood for all kinds of projects internationally .He also hosts and broadcasts events at his Hollywood space for OWSLA,Skrillex,Apple Beats Radio,Diplo,Odesza,Rufus Du Sol,One Ok Rock, etc

Daniel started producing live/dj events in San Francisco in the 90s.Transitioning into working directly with Larry Harvey the founder of Burning Man producing/performing shows and acts for the main stage at Burning Man(when they had a main stage) 

 

He started working directly for years with Perry Farrell on the Lollapalooza/Enit Festival/Coachella festivals etc Daniel was producing all the side performance stages and acts with Perry at these festivals.Also was the touring dj for Janes Addiction 2002 reunion tour .

 

When Lollapalooza Music Festival relaunched in 2003 he was the main director for all the side performance stages for the whole 35 city US stadium tour working side by side with Perry creating a circus like atmosphere for the whole festival.By the end of the tour Daniel had booked over 2000 different regional performers into the festival Daniel went on to Japan/Korea/China and started producing/touring/creating asian pop acts .

 

When Coachella launched in 1999 he produced and curated stage tent with Perry Farrell.

 

He was the music director for the Tokyo Girls Collection fashion festival into China for 2 years Beijing & SHanghai(10k plus each show) bringing Japan/China/Korea's top models and pop acts . Daniel also has a talent booking agency in Los Angeles called Alliance Talent which books major celebrities ,musician, and talent into Asia.He has booked various talents such as Carly Rae Jepsen,Adam Lambert,Gigi Hadid,Victoria Secret Angel Erin Heatherton,Cody Simpson etc etc into China for various events.
